New Cross Stitch Sampler

I've been working on a series of new cross stitch patterns inspired by bible verses.  There's so many that I love so I have my list and work on the designs as I can.

I just finished up John 15:5 I Am The Vine :

The 5th design in my Counted Cross Stitch Series titled, Inspirational Sampler. Inspired by the bible verse, "I Am The Vine, You Are The Branches" John 15:5, this design is worked with Sampler Threads by The Gentle Art but I have included the DMC equivalents. On 28 ct over 2 fabric threads (or 14 count Aida) the stitched area will be 6 5/8 inches wide X 10 inches high. The stitch count is: 94 X 140.

Free Crazy Quilt Blog Background

I've been playing around with creating my own blog backgrounds.  I've done a couple but this morning, decided to do a crazy quilt design.

If you would like to use this on your blog as well, please be my guest:

Copy and paste this code in your HTML gadget:

<style type="text/css">
body { background-image : url(https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4339/35553708674_0a26d16e49_o.jpg); background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat;  background-attachment : fixed; }
</style>

<script type="text/javascript">
var div = document.createElement('div');
div.setAttribute('style',"position: absolute; left: 0px; top: 30px; z-index: 50; width: 150px; height: 45px;");
div.innerHTML = '<a target="_blank" href=" "></a>';
document.getElementsByTagName('body').item(0).appendChild(div);
</script>

I'll do a few more when I have time.  I only know how to do these for Blogspot.  If you have a different blog venue, I'm afraid I can't help.  If you have any trouble with this, please let me know.

Enjoy!

2018 Crazy Quilt Calendar Announcement

Due to lack of submissions, we will not be publishing a crazy quilt calendar for 2018.  For the same reasons, we also will not be publishing a 2017 Holiday issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine.

All submissions that we did receive will be published in the Winter 2017 issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine.

I apologize for any disappointments that anyone has.  The calendar has always been popular and the Holiday issue was very popular last year too but I can't publish either one without enough content.

If anyone missed it, the Autumn 2017 issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine is now available!

Order from Magcloud:  http://www.magcloud.com/user/kitty-and-me

or from Etsy:  http://www.kittyandme.etsy.com/

Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you know that Scott had the scan done and it's clean! The cancer is gone!!!!

The feeding tube comes out tomorrow and we're hoping on Friday to find out when the port can be taken out.

I want to take a moment to say thank you to each and every one of you. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your prayers, your kindness, your support and your generosity. I would not have been able to keep our heads above water had it not been for you, my friends and supporters.

The Biography Of My Great Grandfather - E. J. Moore The Magician

Many of you know that I really enjoy genealogy.  I've spent the last several years working on my family tree and my husband's family tree.  Of course the "Kellogg" line is quite easy.  I already knew Scott's relationship to W. K. Kellogg of Battlecreek Michigan.  I had that line of the his tree done in about 20 minutes!!!

My father's side of the tree was also quite easy.  Everything lined up just as my grandmother had told me years and years ago.  My father's great grandfather owned a butcher shop in Chicago across the street from the O'Leary's (where the great Chicago fire started in 1871).  Supposedly, my great, great grandfather butchered the cow that knocked over the lantern that started the fire in the O'Leary's barn.
I recently found an article in the Chicago Tribune where my great, great grandfather insisted that the story was fact despite many theories to the contrary.

My mom's maternal side of the family was very easy too.  Her grandparents came from Baden Germany.  My great grandfather worked for Brach's Candy Company in Chicago and he traveled by train to New York regularly.  It was all there and easy to document.

My mother's paternal side of the family was a different matter.  Mom knew very little beyond her grandparents.  I searched and searched and dug and scraped and read until I couldn't see straight!  And I'm still digging.  Actually, I'm taking a break a moment because I was getting so aggravated constantly coming up with zilch!

I made to my 3rd great grandparents and just can't seem to get through the brick wall!  Thompson Daniels and Jane Sherman, both born in Fulton County New York around 1825.  Thompson's parents were supposedly born in Ireland but I'm not convinced on that one.

Jane Sherman was a cousin to General William T. Sherman and Senator John Sherman.  After several years of research, I still can't find the connection.

There is however, one person on my mom's side that was so much fun to research and that is my great grandfather Ernest Joseph Moore.  He was a famous magician.

Several months ago, while searching for photos of him, I came across a magician's blog.  Gary Brown had recently posted an article on my great grandfather so I took a chance and left him a message telling him who I was.  We got to talking and I offered to write my great grandfather's biography for him to use on his blog.

Click here if you would like to read the well-documented Biography of E.J. Moore The Magician.

 E. J. Moore The Magician

Special thanks go out to Gary Brown for helping to keep the memory of my great grandfather alive!!!
