Crazy Quilt Artists

I've spent the last couple of hours working on my list of Crazy Quilt Artists under the Crazy Quilting Resources tab at the top of my blog.  If you are a crazy quilter with a blog or photo site, please email me with your name and link and I will gladly add you to the list.

Also, if you know of any crazy quilter sites, again, email the name and link to me!!!

Thanks to Kathy Shaw, I've decided to add a few more categories to the list.  Along with CQ Artists, Supplies, Tutorials and CQ Work for Purchase, there will also be a list of classes/teachers both online and offline, CQ Books, CQ Inspiration and CQ Stitching Groups.

I'll add these as I can.  I plan to create the most comprehensive Crazy Quilt Resource list available online!

In other news, here's a little update on my Halloween Pillow Block:

I hand painted the lace pieces this morning.  I still have to sew them down which I'll do when I turn the computer off.

In the meantime, check out those websites everyone!  Eye candy galore!!!

Crazy Quilting Resources

I am putting together lists of Crazy Quilt Resources.  I thought everyone would find this helpful.  The lists will consist of CQ Artists, CQ Supplies, CQ Tutorials and CQ work for purchase.

I'm starting with CQ Artists.  If you are a Crazy Quilter and you would like me to include you in the list, please email me with your name and website address, be it a blog or Flickr or Facebook page.  If you've already posted this info on my Facebook page, no need to post it again here.

I'll started posting the list under the tab CRAZY QUILTING RESOURCES at the top of my blog during the week.

In the meantime, I'm finishing up my last batch of door hangers so I'll have photos of those in the next day or so.  For now, this Halloween Pillow block is my current project:

I still have to paint my lace pieces but I wanted to get some of the stitching on it first before I choose the colors for the lace.  I've always loved this little Victorian design.  You know me and cats.  And I adore black cats!

Christmas Blocks

I've been stitching on some small blocks that I found in my drawer of ready to stitch on things.  I can't for the life of me remember when I sewed these up but I thought they would be perfect for Christmas.

I finished this one early this morning:

And then I started stitching on this block:

The poinsettia is from a vintage hankie that I used part of last year on a purse.  I'll be making another purse with part of it this year.  I had 2 of the poinsettia's left over.

As you can see, I didn't quite get the border finished but I'll work on this more later.

I know it seems early to be working on Fall and Christmas things but since these will go in the shop, I might as well start now.

Magcloud Sale

If anyone is missing any of my books, Magcloud is offering a 20% off sale.  Today is the last day of the sale.  Use Coupon Code:  WELCOME at checkout.

I've been working in the yard a little, in between the thunderstorms!  It doesn't look like much this year because we've had so much rain but I try to keep things neat and keep the weeds down.  I have a pair of Mallard Ducks that come everyday for the birdseed.  I've been trying to get a photo of them.  They're so pretty and they're used to me now so they don't fly away when they see me!  As soon as I can get a picture of them, I'll post it here.

And, I finished up my little Santa Door Hanger:

I'm running low on snowflake buttons.  I need to get up to JoAnn's or Michaels or Hobby Lobby one of these days!

I started on another little Christmas door hanger:

I have a cute little snowman button for this one.  And some pretty little pine trees.

I guess that's my news for now.  Nothing terribly exciting going on at the moment.

Seasonal Door Hangers

I was digging around in my stash the other day.  I keep a drawer with some pre-sewn blocks it in, just in case I need something to stitch on but don't have time to sew up blocks.  Anyway, I found a couple of 6 inch square blocks.  I can't remember when I sewed them but I thought they would be perfect for Fall and Christmas.  I stitched this one up the other day:

And then I started on this one earlier this morning:

There are 2 other ones that will work for Christmas so I thought I'd stitch these up before moving on to a few larger projects.

The 2015 Crazy Quilt Calendar is coming along nicely.  I'm just waiting on 2 more blocks and then I'll announce the contributors.

I guess that's the news for now.  I haven't blogging too much because it's Summer and I know everyone is either outside or on vacation.  I'll get back to a more regular blogging schedule when Fall comes.  In the meantime, I'll try to post an update on my little blocks over the weekend.

Call For Eye Candy

I've been thinking about my first issue of CQ Gatherings and I'm going to need some eye candy photos.  I'm looking for Crazy Quilt hearts for Valentine's Day, something with shamrocks, robins or a nest for St. Patricks Day and something with an Easter theme.

There's no hurry.  The submission deadline is November 1st, 2014.  I just wanted to put it out there so everyone has time to do some stitching and get photos taken.

Crazy Quilt Clutch Purses

Well, I finally finished up these Crazy Quilt Clutch Purses:

I don't care for these frames.  I bought them at JoAnn's and although they look really nice, they're hard to sew the bag onto.  These frames have groove that you have to push the fabric into, slide the needle underneath and try to come out in the hole on the front.  As you can see, I used beads.  It took me 2 hours to put the purple purse on the frame and 3 hours for the blue purse.  I think I'll be keeping these.

I think, instead of buying these frames from JoAnns, I'll order some from an Etsy store.  They're much easier to sew on.

Something To Crow About

Okay, I know it's early, and I'm not in any hurry for Fall because after Fall comes Winter and ya'll know how I feel about that!  But mom likes stitching Fall things so for today, I have a few Fall Door Hanging Pillows that mom stitched.  First is my favorite, the one with the crows:

And then lots of pretty pumpkins!

I'm finishing up the little gifts that I've been working on and my last 2 purses are just about done.  I'll try to have photos of them tomorrow.

I spent yesterday sewing up some new blocks and I'm hoping to sew up a few more next week.  Maybe a few small things like cellphone pouches and a few door hangers.  I like making them too.

In other news, I'm just waiting on the last 3 calendar blocks to come in.  When I have them all, I'll announce the lovely Crazy Quilt artists who graciously contributed a block.

Crazy Quilt Button Hearts

These Crazy Quilt Button Hearts took me a little bit longer to finish than they normally do.  I hand crocheted the trim for each one and then sewed that on by hand:

The maples leaves are metal leaves from a candle holder arrangement that I bought at a garage sale a few years ago for a dollar or 2..  My husband cut the leaves off for me and primed them with car primer and then I hand painted them with acrylic paint.

Most of the buttons are vintage although a few are newer and I made the beaded dangles to go with each heart.  So these are done and in my Etsy shop.

I still have to finish up the last 2 purses that I made and I have to sew up some new blocks so I have something to stitch on when I finish up the little gifts that I'm working on.  Yes, I will share them but not until later this year.

How About Them Apples!

Sorry for my long disappearance but I just haven't been able to complete finish up my most recent projects.  I'm also working on some gifts that I can't share yet so without anything interesting to write about, I thought I'd just wait and spare ya'll my ramblings about nothing!  LOL!!!

I will have some finishes in the next few days but in the meantime, here are a couple of little Apple Hanging Pillows that Mom made:

I hope everyone is having a Happy late Spring - early Summer!  We've plenty of rain so our Pumpkin Patch is doing quite well.  As soon as it takes off a little more, I'll share some photos.  Pumpkins just take over the yard!
